Deputy Engineer, Clerk caught accepting bribe
Akola, Apr 12 (UNI) Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 75,000 from a contractor here.
Deputy Engineer of Rural Water Supply and Water Conservation and Development Machinery, Sonba Baburao Mendhe and Ground Water Survey Department 'Clerk-cum-Agent' Jugalkishor Chandak in the Akola Zilla Parishad, were caught last evening while accepting the bribe from complainant, Rajendra Iccharam Kupte, a Tubewell contractor, ACB Superintendent Vinod Ingole said here today said.
The complainant approached the ACB after the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 75,000 to clear a a bill of Rs three lakh for digging tube wells, that was pending since last year despite the fact that money had already been released in January last.
ACB laid a trap and arrested the duo last evening.
Offences have been registered against the duo under sections 7 (2) 13 (1) of Prevention of Corruption Act, sources added.
