CM assures Rs 4 cr for Tirupati Municipal Corporation

Hyderabad, Apr 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today assured Tirupati MLA Venkataramana that the government would provide Rs four crore to Tirupati Municipal Corporation for taking up road works, lighting, bus shelters.

The MLA along with the Tirupati Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sakala Reddy and Executive Engineer T Mohan met the Chief Minister here and him of the need for providing the basic amenities to lakhs of pilgrims vising Tirupati town for the darshan of the Lord Balaji at Tirumala Hills and submitted proposals accordingly.

He also requested funds for providing drinking water supply to the town, an official release said.

The Chief Minister felt that providing basic amenities to the visiting pilgrims as well as the fast expanding pilgrim town was a must and the Corporation should take all steps for improving the pilgrim facilities in the town. He directed the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary S K Singh to immediately sanction Rs four crore to the Tirupati Municipal Corporation.

He also directed the TMC Commissioner to furnish a detailed project report, already submitted by the Corporation to the government for storm water drains, sewerage works and drinking water supply projects so that the same could be submitted to the Centre and funds estimated to cost over Rs 70 crore be tapped under Urban Infrastracture Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT).
