CM announces constitution of Haripur Guler Development Board

Dharamshala, Apr 12 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced the constitution of the Haripur Guler Development Board to preserve and restore the monumental heritage of the area.

Addressing a public gathering at Masroor in Jaswan Assembly constituency, he said the board has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Kangra Deputy Commissioner and on the analogy of the Renuka Development Board.

Mr Singh said Haripur-Guler area has several historical monuments dating back to several thousand years that were loosing their identity.

The new Board would start functioning soon and local prominent people would be involved as unofficial members, who would contribute in preserving the monuments, he added.

Urging the local people to extend their cooperation in the endeavour, he said a number of prominent writers and artists from the area would be hired to look after the monuments.

The chief minister also laid the foundation-stone of the PHC building, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 60 lakh besides announcing the upgradation of Masroor Government High School to Government Senior Secondary School and Sapru Government Primary School to Government Middle School. He also sanctioned two link roads for the area.

Revenue Minister Sat Mahajan and HPCC President Viplove Thakur were also present on the occasion.
