Lucknow, Apr 12 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded a CBI probe into circulation of a CD containing inflammatory material related to deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and his execution by some unidentified people.

''The circulation of the CD in Western Uttar Pradesh going to polls tomorrow is handiwork of the some political vested interests in order to influence Muslim voters by a particular party, '' senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha told reporters here.

There was a direct allegation of the BJP that the contents of this anonymous CD clearly have been made public to favour the ruling Samajwadi Party and it warranted a CBI probe, he said, adding that it was timed just before the second phase polls in 58 assembly constituencies spread over ten districts on April 13.

Mr Sinha said it was no secret that the parties like the SP and Congress always treated Muslims as 'vote bank' and by such endeavours, they made another desperate attempt to woo the community in their favour. ''BJP has always considered Muslims as citizens of India and has condemned such act by these parties specially the SP,'' he said.

The CD, generally circulated in Khatauli area of Muzaffarnagar district contained photographs of Gujarat riots, dead bodies, police firing, Saddam's execution and other issues and speeches by Samajwadi Party leaders to incite the people belonging to a particular community. ''It is a very serious matter and needed the highest probe,'' he said.

Former Union Minister was of the view that the blatant Muslim appeasement policy of Mulayam Singh government was sure to boomerang making the SP suffer heavily at the UP polls.
