Decision to bring MCD schools under Del Govt after due considerati

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) Any decision to bring primary schools run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi under the Delhi Governemnt would be taken only after due consideration of various aspects of the issue, Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely today said.

Replying to a question by Veer Singh Dhingan of the Congress and Vijay Jolly of the BJP on whether the Delhi Government was considering to take MCD run primary schools under its control as per the orders of the High Court, Mr Lovely said, ''A policy in this regard is yet to be formulated and will be done only after duly considering all aspects of the issue.'' Speaking on the issue during the Question Hour on the first day of the resumed budget session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, several members pointed to the sorry state of many MCD schools in Delhi and stressed on the need to ameliorate the condition of these schools.

To this, Mr Lovely said, ''As far as the Delhi Government is concerned, our firm priority is always to ensure that children in Delhi are able to get proper education. However, various aspects of the issue will have to be taken into consideration before a policy decision with regard to taking the MCD schools under Delhi government control is taken.'' To another question raised by Mange Ram Garg on steps taken by the Delhi government for simplifying the procedure for issue of new ration cards and renewal of existing cards, the Delhi Minister for Development Raj Kumar Chauhan said the process of making new ration cards had been stopped.

This has been done to ensure that no new 'Jhuggi Jhopri' clusters come up in the city. To the existing JJ dwellers, food coupons are being provided to enable them to get daily commodities at a low cost, Mr Chauhan said.
