Training Institute for drivers to be set up in Uttarakhand
Dehradun, Apr 10 (UNI) A training institute for commercial vehicle drivers will be set up in Uttarakhand.
The institute would be run under the aegis of Maruti Udyog and will be set up at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
''The budget will be provided by the Central Government,'' Uttarakhand Chief Secretary S K Das today told reporters after a Cabinet briefing. Mr Das said the state cabinet has recommended the establishment of a well equipped training institute including simulators. The institute would have a Management Committee headed by the Transport Secretary, he added.
Mr Das said the cabinet has decided to enhance the government relief amount provided to accident victims. He said it has been recommended to provide grant of Rs 50,000 to the family of a person killed in a road accident. Previously it was Rs 20,000.
He said those amputed in accident will also get a relief of Rs 20,000. All newly constructed roads where presently plying of vehicles are prohibited would shortly be permitted for transportation, he added.
The cabinet has also decided to make a change in the recruitment process of Clerical grade in the state Justice Department conducted through the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission.
He said 46 per cent of the vacant posts in Ayurvedic Colleges in the state will be filled up on contract basis. In all 50 per cent posts are vacant in the colleges due to shortage of candidates.
