Tourism Corporation to sell 15 properties in Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Apr 10 (UNI) To revamp the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TGCL), the state government has started the process of disinvestment while inviting global tenders for the sale of six loss-making units and nine plots to private parties, to develop these properties.
TGCL officials here today said they expect to earn about Rs 50 crore out of the sales. All these units are continuously incurring losses.
The value of these properties has been assessed by the State Roads and Building department and the process of sale of these properties would be completed within the next five months, sources said.
A three year lock-in period has been imposted besides the buyers would not be allowed to transfer to any other parties and the new bidder will have to utilise it for the purpose of tourism facility as defined in the 2003-2010 Tourism policy of the state.
The six properties on sale are Palance Beach Resort in Chorvad in Junagadh District, Hotel Sumeru in Palitana, Veraval Tourist Bunglow also in Junagadh district, Tourist Complex in Surat District, Dwaraka Guest House in Dwarka and Cafeteria in Gandhinagar.
The nine locations of land put up for sales (in square metres) are -- Radhanpur (6,600) Jagana (8,092), Bamanbor (8,000), Sayaka (20,230), Katapar (32,375), Shamkhiyani (10,625) Hansalpur (10,000), Vallabhipur (3630) and Sola in Ahmedabad (9140).
A three-member committee has been set up to monitor the process of sale deed of all these 15 properties. The prospective bidders would get a chance to establish their presence in one of the most progressive states in the country. The government has also had plans to given away some of the TGCL properties to private parties to run them on contract basis, the official sources said.
