Haryana govt to improve tourist infrastructure:Minister

Chandigarh, Apr 10 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked Rs 21.20 crore during the 11th Five Year Plan for the development of advanced tourism infrastructure along the main highways across the State for the convenience of tourists.

While informing this here today, Minister of State for Tourism and Forests, Mrs Kiran Choudhry said under this scheme funds are provided for development of various types of tourism infrastructure on the highways.

She said out of the total amount, Rs 13.80 crore would be spent for expansion, modernisation and upgradation of existing facilities at Ambala, Karna Lake at Karnal, Bahadurgarh, Pipli, Blue Bird at Hisar, Tilyar at Rohtak, Dharuhera, Samalkha, Hodal, Hansi, Fatehabad, Magpie at Faridabad and Panchkula. A portion of this amount will also be used for acquiring land at the tourist complex at Karnal.

The Minister said keeping in view the rush of tourists at the Rai complex, Rs 1.10 crore had been allocated for the improvement of infrastructure, like construction of convention centre, fast food, gym, spas and additional accommodation at the complex.

Mrs Choudhry said a provision of Rs one crore had been made for remodelling of Oasis Tourist Complex and construction of bath complex and improvement of public toilets at the Uchana tourist complex. She said Panipat being an important town, the government had proposed to set up a new tourist complex for which an amount of Rs 3.5 crore had been earmarked.

She further said a provision of Rs 1.80 crore had been made for modernisation and upgradation of tourist facilities as per requirements of the tourist complexes in the state.
