Mumbai, Apr 9 (UNI) Shiv Sena-BJP members in both the houses of Maharashtra legislature today disrupted the proceedings demanding the resignation and immediate arrest of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane against whom an FIR has been registered by the police in Nagpur district last week.

The Assembly was adjourned for the day within an hour and 15 minutes, as opposition members resorted to vociferous slogan shouting against Mr Rane.

Deputy Speaker Pramod Shende, who was in the chair, rushed through the business listed on the agenda like laying of annual reports of various state government owned corporations. Budgetary demands for public works, food, civil supplies and consumer protection were passed without discussion apart from the bill of regulating state government employees transfers and preventing delays in government responsibilities was also passed without debate.

In the council also, the proceedings were adjourned twice for 15 minutes and later for the whole day before Deputy Chairman Vasant Davkhare ran through the proceedings particularly passing of the bills without any discussion.

As the house assembled, Shiv Sena leaders Madhukarrao Sarpotdar, and Diwakar Raote were on their feet to demand the discussion on this this issue under article 289 which was denied by Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh. This irked the saffron alliance members who entered the well protesting against the same. Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil and Mr Rane himself were present in the house.

Mr Deshmukh adjourned the house amidst pandemonium for 15 minutes and later again for 15 minutes.

After the second adjournment, Mr Davkhare started the proceedings and asked Minister of State for School Education Hasan Mushrif and Minister of State for urban development Rajesh Tope. After passing the bills, he adjourned the house for the day.

However, apart from the Sena-BJP members; the Congress-NCP members also joined the slogan shouting.

Jeetendra Avad and Manda Mhatre (NCP) went on to tear the posters of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and shouted slogans as he had asked the Centre to return 200 MW power which Gujarat had given to Maharashtra.

Mr Avad had even tried to raise the issue earlier and at that time the Chairman asked him to raise the same after the question hour.
