Pranab progressing well, to be discharged tmrw
New Delhi, Apr 9: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee -- admitted to hospital here following injuries in a road accident on Saturday near Kolkata -- is expected to be discharged tomorrow, doctors attending on him today said.

spokesperson
said
Minister
Mukherjee's
condition
had
been
reviewed
by
a
team
of
specialists
at
the
Army
Hospital
(Research&Referral)
early
this
morning.
''He
had
a
sound
sleep
yesterday
and
continues
to
remain
active
and
cheerful,''
the
spokesperson
added.
A
fresh
series
of
investigations
--
including
Computed
Tomography
(CT)
and
Magnetic
Resonance
Imaging
(MRI)
scans
of
the
head,
and
CT
scan
of
the
chest
--
were
done.
These
ruled
out
any
bony
or
internal
injuries,
said
the
spokesperson.
''His
vital
parameters
continue
to
be
within
normal
limits...
He
has
a
lacerated
wound
scalp,
which
is
clean
and
has
nine
sutures...
Apart
from
this,
there
are
no
other
bony
or
soft
issue
injuries....''
Further,
Mr
Mukherjee
was
able
to
walk
around
and
was
''progressing
well''.
Army
Chief
Gen
JJ
Singh
called
on
him
this
morning,
said
the
spokesperson
adding
that
he
was
expected
to
be
discharged
from
the
hospital
tomorrow.
Minister
Mukherjee
suffered
injuries
in
the
head
when
the
car
in
which
he
was
travelling
from
Murshidabad
to
Kolkata
collided
head-on
with
a
truck
at
Nakashipara
in
Nadia
district
on
Saturday
evening.
