Gegong Apang to resign to pave way for Khamdu in Arunachal
Itanagar, Apr 9 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minsiter Gegong Apang today decided to resign after a CLP meeting elected power minister Dorjee Khamdu as Congresss Legislature Party leader ending an eleven-day political crisis in the state.
Party sources said a swearing-in-ceremony is expected this evening for chief ministership of Mr Khamdu.
The CLP meeting, which started around 1100 hours, was attended by among others Union ministers Oscar Fernandes and Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi.
After the meeting Mr Apang decided to quit the post in favour of Mr Khambu.
In the CLP meeting about 25 MLAs, out of 33 Congress legislators, supported Mr Khamdu while six stood for Mr Apang.
Two Congress MLAs were absent.
