Gastro-enteritis in Eluru: scores of people hospitalised

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 9 (UNI) Scores of people have been hospitalised as gastro-enteritis spread in this town in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh due to contaminated water.

According to officials, as many as 100 people were hospitalised in the past two days.

Reports said 14 persons were admitted to the Government Headquarters Hospital with symptoms of gastro-enteritis this morning. Till evening, more people were going to hospital with the ailment.

The victims said they had seen sewage in the drinking water pipeline.

Eluru legislator Alla Nani visited the hospital. He asked municipal officials to take immediate action about the contaminated water and asked them to supply protected water.
