Courts should be geographically accessible: CJI
New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan today said courts should be geographically accessible to all, fulfilling the constitutional obligation of making justice accessible to everybody.
Speaking at a seminar ''Significance of Bar and Bench in Trial Court especially for Doing Justice to Poor and Needy'', the Chief Justice gave an example of Kerala where there is a court within a distance of every 10 kms.
Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Mukundakam Sharma echoed the view, adding further that there should be specialised roaster of the judges.
Elaborating, he said the judges should cover the courts they are experts at. For example, a judge should deal with the cases of taxes if he knows the subject well.
Chief Justice Sharma regretted the high number of litigations languishing in the courts across the country.
