Delhi govt to provide 100 acre land to DSIIDC
New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) The Delhi government will handover 100 acres of land to Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) shortly for a mega-housing scheme at Kanjhawala, DSIIDC Managing Director Manoj Parida said.
DSIIDC will function as the Housing Corporation of Delhi government and provide low cost housing with alternative technology, he added.
Under the scheme, there will be three category of houses, one for industrial workers, the other for slum evacuees and the thrid category will be for economically weaker sections of the society, Mr Parida claimed.
He informed that DSIIDC will also undertake in-situ upgradation of slums whenever considered necessary. The Delhi government has earlier designated DSIIDC as the nodal agency for construction of houses under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
A proposal for construction of 20,000 houses under JNNURM has already been submitted to Central Government by DSIIDC.
''Impressed by DSIIDC's quality of houses built, Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit has said that it will be asked to build thousands of houses before the Commonwealth Games here in 2010,'' Mr Parida said.
The DSIIDC has earmarked 23.55 acres of residential land in sector 3 of Bawana Industrial Complex where 3,164 dwelling units have already been constructed as part of the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme.
It will build an additional 4,348 low-cost home for workers in the capital.
Besides, it also plans to acquire land in other localities near industrial belts to construct 50,000 of such flats in the near future.
Mr Parida said the provisional price of each flat varies from Rs 1,30,000 to Rs 3,15,000.
