Courts to be fully computerised in HP: CM

Shimla, Apr, 8 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said all the courts of the state will be fully computerised in a phased manner.

Speaking at the Chief Ministers and Chief Justices Conference in Delhi, he said HP High Court has been fully computerised, while other district courts and Shimla Session Court and other courts of the town would be computerised during this financial year.

Mr Singh said HP Judicial Academy has been set up for the training and orientation of judicial officers for an efficient judicial administration.

The academy has already started imparting induction training and refresher courses to the judicial officers and court staff, he said.

He said 66,120 cases were disposed off by 3,836 Lok Adalats held between 1990 to February 2007 in the state.

Lok Adalats have also been successful in the settlement of motor accident claim cases, matrimonial, familial disputes and bank loan cases, he said.

The Chief Minister said a special emphasis has been given to reduce the backlog of cases by improving the infrastructure and modernising the courts.

The High Court building has been constructed at Shimla and a number of court complexes with modern facilities were under construction at district and sub- divisional headquarters in the state, he added.

He said the budget provision of Rs 1436 lakh has been made for construction of judicial court complexes and residential complexes in the state, adding that six new civil judge courts have been set up in the state.

Mr Singh said the process to fill the vacancies in the subordinate courts has been initiated through Public Service Commission.
