3000 Sikh pilgrims cross into Pakistan for Baisakhi

Amritsar, Apr 8 (UNI) A 3000-strong 'jatha' of Sikh pilgrims today left for Pakistan on a pilgrimage to the holy shrines across the border and for celebrating Baisakhi.

The 'jatha' left for Lahore by three special trains of the Indian Railways. The 'jatha' is being led by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Manjit Singh.

During their stay in Pakistan, the pilgrims will pay obeisance at the historical shrines of Panja Sahib, Dera Sahib in Lahore and Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak. The 'jatha' will return home on April 17.
