New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh today said ''high levels of corruption'' led to the Congress defeat in Delhi MCD elections and the results proved that people had rejected the phoney ''aam admi'' policies of the party which were mere hollow promises.

Thanking voters and congratulating Delhi Pradesh BJP leaders, Mr Singh said the rising prices of essential commodities, lack of proper civic amenities and corruption in governance had impacted people's mind when they voted against the Congress.

On the other hand, with a promise to provide a ''corruption free, accountable and transparent Corporation'' to the people, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan said Union ministers Jaipal Reddy and Ajay Maken and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit should resign taking moral responsibility for misleading the public on the Master Plan 2021.

Calling for immediate dissolving of the Delhi Assembly and fresh elections, Mr Vardhan said the defeat showed that the people of Delhi had rejected the misleading Master Plan, on whose basis it fought the MCD elections.

Both the Union ministers and the CM had said that the achievements of the Congress speaks for itself and after the people's verdict they should resign.

''Ms Dikshit should also dissolve the Delhi Assembly and call for fresh elections so that the people may get a clean, healthy, accountable and public oriented Government.'' Due to people's trust and support to the BJP, the party would try to come up to their expectations, he said adding that during the three-year rule of the Congress at the Centre, eight years in Delhi and five years in the MCD, the party had ravaged the common man's concern and expectations.
