Heavy squall cools Delhi, mercury drops to 35.6 Degree C
New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) A heavy squall in the morning hours today brought relief to Delhiites from the scorching heat of yesterday, leading to a drop in mercury in the capital.
The squall, an offshoot of a fresh Western disturbance, hit Delhi in the early hours of the morning and brought down the maximum temperature to 36.6 Degree Celsius from yesterday's to 35.6 Degree C.
The squall also uprooted trees in some areas.
The strong North Easterly winds, coupled with an overcast sky in the morning hours led to a rise in minimum temperature to 23.4 Degree C.
The coolness in the air is likely to remain over the next few days with the weathermen forecasting rain and thundershowers in Delhi and other parts of Northwest India during the next 48 hours.
The weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with the possibility of thundry development accompanied by squalls in some areas in the city.
With a decrease in the intensity of the Northwesterly winds, which had brought about a coolness in the air in Delhi since Tuesday, the maximum temperature yesterday rose to 36.6 Degree Celsius, two degrees above normal.
