Exit poll surveys place SP as a front runner in the I phase
New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Exit polls after the first phase of polling for 62 seats in Uttar Pradesh put Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party in the first and second positions while the BJP is in the third place.
The IMRB-NDTV survey showed that the SP will get around 20 to 24 seats as against its current strength of 24 seats while the BSP was projected to secure 16 to 20 seats from its present strength of 14 seats. The BJP is shown as getting 12 to 16 seats as against its 18 seats in the outgoing House while the Congress though continues to trail in the fourth place and is set to get between 6 to 10 seats.
The swing witnessed in the first phase, if extended to the entire state, projects that the SP is to get 120 to 130 seats followed by 125-135 of the BSP and 80 to 90 seats for the BJP. The Congress is to get 40 to 50 seats while others including Independents are to get around 10 to 20 seats.
The Star TV projections put BSP in the first place with 20 seats followed by BJP (19), SP (15), Congress (5) and Others (3). The swing if extended to the entire state says the expected figures would be 135 for the BSP, 103 for SP, 99 for BJP, 28 for Congress and 38 for Independents and Others.
The C-Voter-India TV exit polls upto 1500 hours showed that the SP would get around 22 to 26 seats and BSP between 19 to 23 followed by 12 to 16 of the BJP. The Congress is to get three to five seats while others are expected to get in between one and four seats.
The SP won 24 seats, BJP 18, BSP 14, Congress four and others two seats in the last assembly polls.
