ONGC to start 14 onshore marginal fields in India
Aizawl, Apr 6 (UNI) Oil and Natural Gas Corporation(ONGC) has entered into service contracts with five oil and gas exploration company for development of 14 onshore marginal fields of the country.
ONGC corporate officials said here today that offered has been given for development of Bantumilli, Mulikipalli, Sirikattapalli, Chintanapalli, Magatapalli, Medapadu and Manepalli field in Krishna-Godavori Basin, Ghotaru, Kharatar and Bankia fields in Western Onshore Basin, Vadatheru, Neyveli, Karaikal fields in Cauvery Basin and Charaideo field in Assam and Assam Arakan Basin.
Development of Marginal Fields is one of the strategic business pursuits of ONGC, for increasing production by unlocking small pools of discovered hydrocarbon reserves, they said.
"Out of the total 165 new and marginal fields, 44 fields have been monetised while about 90 fields are in the process of being put on production," Officials stated adding that ONGC has initiated action to put about 96 per cent reserves of marginal fields on production in eleventh plan period, which is expected to produce additional about 30 MMT.
In the first phase, a total of eight onshore marginal fields - Khambel, West Bechraji, Hirapur, Bihubar, Barsilla, Laxmijan, South Patan and Kamboi- were put on development through awarding of contracts to three companies in 2004 on nomination basis, officials informed.
