Musharraf sought my permission to 'take' Kashmir: Benazir
New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) In a startling revelation, former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has said that Gen Pervez Musharraf sought her permission in 1996 to invade Kashmir and ''hoisting the Pakistani flag in Srinagar''.
In a fresh chapter added to her autobiography, 'Daughter of the East', Ms Bhutto has revealed that Gen Musharraf sought her permission so that ''Pakistan would be in control of Srinagar and would put their flag on the Srinagar Parliament''.
In her revised autobiography, excerpts of which have been published by 'Outlook' weekly magazine in its issue appearing tomorrow, Ms Bhutto said,''I once again heard (from Gen Musharraf) how Pakistan would take Srinagar if only I gave orders to do so.
Musharraf concluded the briefing with the words that ceasefire would be in place and Pakistan would be in control of Srinagar.
Next we will put flag of Pakistan on the Srinagar.'' She, however, added that she refused permission to the general saying that ''do you know what the United Nations wil tell me? They will pass a Security Council resolution condemning us and demanding that we unilaterally withdraw from Srinagar, and we will have got nothing for our efforts but humiliation and isolation.'' Other sensational disclosures made in the autobiography include Benazir's refusal to appoint Gen Musharraf as her military secretary, the ISI's plan of uniting Pakistan and Afghanistan into a confederaits attempts to assassinate her and Osama Bin Laden's bribing of politicians to have them vote for a no confidence against her in the National assembly, a release by the Outllok said.
