Locals foil militant bid to kidnap teacher in Doda

Doda, Apr 6 (UNI) Locals foiled a militants' bid to kidnap a teacher at Malikpora in Bhallassa area here in Jammu and Kashmir, sources today said.

Two militants, carrying an AK assault rifle last night entered the house of Mr Ashiq Hussain, a teacher, and asked him to accompany them as they were unfamiliar with the local routes.

When the teacher was being taken away by the militants at gun- point, his relatives overpowered the ultra and raised an alarm.

The frightened militants then turned defensive and managed to escape in the cover of darkness. However, they left their rifles behind.

Meanwhile, people informed the 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and troops immediately reached the spot and launched a search operation to nab the militants.

Commanding Officer 26 RR appreciated the locals action and assured them of all support from the Army.
