Gold futures for April series settles at Rs 9,339 at NMCE

Ahmedabad, Apr 6 (UNI) Kilo-Gold futures contract for April-2007 as traded at National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE) settled at Rs 9,339 on the expiry of series yesterday.

It was Rs 61 lower than the day's spot price of Rs 9,400, an official release of NMCE today said.

Kilo-Gold is traded in lots (units) of one kg, but the prices are quoted in Rs per 10-gramme. The price is settled at the average of the last five trading days of the series.

As per Forward Markets Commission (FMC) guidelines, NMCE runs bimonthly contracts of Kilo-Gold, each series expiring on the fifth day of alternate month.

During intra-day trading, the April-2007 series had closed at a high of Rs 9,810 on February 26 this year and low of Rs 8,973 on October 26. The April-2007 series registered a total volume of 5,134 lots (kg) and turnover of Rs.488.02-crore since it was introduced.

NMCE also runs monthly futures contract in gold in lots (units) of 100-gm, besides other commodities like silver, non-ferrous metals, spices, plantation, oilseeds, edible oils, non-edible oils, sugar, gur, pulses and other food grains.
