complaint to EC against police officer of Basti lodged

Lucknow, Apr 6(UNI) A complaint has been lodged with the Election Commission (EC) against a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) rank officer for working in favour of Samajwadi Party candidate and minister in Mulayam government Raj Kishore Singh in Haraiyya assembly constituency in Basti district.

Compalint lodged by Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) worker has alleged that the Circle Officer (CO) of Haraiyya O P Singh was openly intimidating the electorates in the favour of the ruling party candidate.

The station Officer of Haraiyya police station was also assisting him in his act that clearly amounted to violation of election code of conduct, the compalint of one Bhupendra Kumar Singh said.

It said the fair and free Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in this constituency was impossible if the CO was not removed.

Meanwhile, the UP Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said the complaint would be considered after the first phase of the polls.
