Stay on OBC Quota: Lawyers boycott court
Madurai, Apr 5 (UNI) Advocates of the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court today boycotted court proceedings protesting against the Supreme Court stay on the reservation for OBCs in Centrally sponsored educational institutions.
The functioning of the HC Bench came to a grinding halt as a result of the boycott.
A large number of lawyers gathered at the entrance of the High Court Bench and staged a demonstration raising slogans to press for OBC reservations.
The decision to abstain from the Court proceedings was taken by all the four advocates associations in the Bench.
Yesterday, a group of advocates of the Madurai Bar Association burnt a copy of the SC order, staying the operation of OBC quota.
