Lack of quorum leads to 15 minutes adjournment in Assembly
Mumbai, Apr 5 (UNI) Lack of quorum led to the Assembly being adjourned for 15 minutes here today, with the Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar deciding to convene a meeting of all party whips to discuss the attendance of legislators in the House.
Shiv Sena member Dagdu Sakpal drew the attention of Mr Kupekar to the low attendance when the proceedings began at 1000 hrs and the Question Hour was announced.
A total of five members from treasury benches, including Ministers and six from opposition benches, were present.
Mr Sakpal said the proceedings could not be conducted due to the lack of quorum.
Girish Bapat (BJP) said the attendance of legislators in the Assembly was normally poor during the morning and evening proceedings.
The Speaker said the low attendance was a matter of concern.
''I have convened a meeting of all party whips on Monday on the issue,'' he said and adjourned the Houses for 15 minutes.
