The CID has accordingly revamped its investigation. They fear that certain subversive elements may be directly or indirectly linked to extremist outfits abroad.

Interrogating four such militants at the CID headquarters here yesterday, revealed that they had plans to exercise taller activities in the city and in other parts of the state.

The Pakistani duo, Md Yunis Rathor and Abdullah, along with Mujaffar were sent to Dhaka by Laskar-e-Toiba commander Amzad from Karachi to get easy access into India. They were to go to Kashmir later, CID sources said.

Meanwhile, CID seized a driving license (Smart Card) from Shamir issued by the Motor Vehicles Department in the city in 2006.

Shamir, a science graduate from Aurangabad, was issued the license as a north Kolkata resident and the CID was on a search for the person who provided him residential certificate.

Shamir had joined three of them in the Dhaka's New Gold Hotel and made arrangements for their crossing of the international border clandestinely. However, their entire mission had failed being trapped by the BSF intelligence.

Shamir was also bearing some identity cards issued in his favour from a Maharashtra Agricultural University.
