Haryana spells 384 industrial units in backward areas
Chandigarh, Apr 3 (UNI) A total of 384 new industrial units were set up in industrially backward areas of Haryana during April 2005 to March 2007 at an investment of Rs 132 crore.
These units generated employment to about 5,250 persons, state Industries Minister Lachhman Dass Arora said here today.
''A special scheme had been asigned to promote units in backward areas which seek to invest Rs 100 crore or more, or give employment to more than 500 persons,'' he said.
During the said period, the New Industrial Policy also sought to woo large-scale units to the backward areas by giving many incentives and concessions.
Besides, such units were given interest-free loans for a period of five years under the Haryana Value Added Tax Act-2003.
These units would be exempted from paying local area development tax for a period of five years. Special emphasis was being laid on encouraging public-private partnership in setting up infrastructural projects, he added.
