Hyderabad, Apr 3 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Backward Class Sangham will file a review petition in the Supreme Court on its recent stay on 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in central institutions in the country.

Sangham president and former MP T Bala Goud, talking to mediapersons here today said it was unfortunate that the Apex court had stayed the OBC reservation in the educational institutions even after the Parliament had enacted a law in this regard.

Demanding that the Centre conduct a BC census immediately, he urged all political parties to take steps to amend the Constitution ensuring 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in higher education.

The existing constitutional provisions have empowered the government to provide reservation to the OBCs, former member of National Commission for Backward Classes B Babu Rao Verma said, adding the stay on 27 per cent reservation to the OBCs was not a direction of the court but observation in the nature of 'obiter dicta.'
