TDP to go on the 'war path' against Cong Govt
Hyderabad, Apr 2 (UNI) Alleging the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government had failed to intervene on Babli and reservation for Other Backward Classes issues, the opposition Telugu Desam Party today decided to embark on a series of agitation against the UPA at the Centre and the Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh.
Briefing media on decisions at the TDP politburo meeting chaired by TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, Legislature Party Deputy leader T Devender Goud and General Secretary K Srihari said the all party meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not fruitful as the latter declined to direct Maharashtra to stop the Babli project.
On April 6 and 7, the TDP would hold 'Jana Chatna Yatra' in the districts of Nalgonda, Warangal and Karimnagar, which would become barren if the upper riparian state was allowed to complete the Babli project, they said, adding the party would intensify its agitation in the next phase by taking to the streets in New Delhi.
Stating the UPA Government did not have a clear stand on OBC reservation, stayed by the apex court, the politburo announced support for the Andhra bandh called by the 'BC Aiyeka Vedika'.
The party also decided to hold a state-wide dharna tomorrow in support of farmers, who were struggling to get remunerative price for produce, demanding intervention of Markfed.
