Over 11.52 crore relief to Karnal and Jind farmers

Chandigarh, Apr 2 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to give a compensation of over Rs. 11.52 crore to the farmers of Karnal and Jind district for the damage of their crops due to hailstorm and rain last February, state Revenue Minister, Ajay Singh Yadav said here today.

As per special Girdavri (survey) conducted by district administration Jind, crop of wheat was damaged to the extent of 26 to 50 per cent in 98,82,000 acres, 51 to 75 per cent in 58,72,000 acres and 76 to 100 per cent in 1,07,55,000 acres area.

In case of other crops, 26 to 50 per cent in 2,82,000 acres, 51 to 75 per cent in 3,48,000 acres and 76 to 100 per cent in 13,72,000 acres were damaged, he said.

Capt, Yadav said similarly in district Karnal 26 to 50 per cent wheat crop in 3,26,37,000 acres, 51 to 75 per cent in 1,54,12,000 acres and 76 to 100 per cent in 3,03,40,000 acres area was badly affected while other crops were damaged to the extent of 26 to 50 per cent in 17,38,000 acre, 51 to 75 per cent in 6,66,000 acre and 76 to 100 per cent in 59,32,000 acre.
