Maharashtra to get 700 MW power from AP: Shinde
Nagpur, Apr 2 (UNI) Maharashtra will get 700 MW of power from the idle captive power plants in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh (AP) to tide over the shortage of electricity, Union Minister for Power Sushilkumar Shinde said here today.
Talking to newsmen, Mr Shinde said there are several captive power plants in AP that were lying idle because of the shortage of gas. The Power Ministry has suggested that these be run on naphtha and that the power be given to Maharashtra.
Maharashtra would pay for the naphtha, he indicated.
The AP government had agreed in principle to the proposal, but the details would be worked out by the chief ministers of the two states soon, the Minister said.
