IT parks to set up in other important cities of TN: TN CM

Chennai, Apr 2 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced in the Assembly that Information Technology (IT) parks would be set up in Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem and Tirunelveli.

Replying to a question in the House, he said the state government had been taking efforts to establish IT parks in other important cities of Tamil Nadu besides Chennai.

Stating that 29 acres of land had been allocated for the IT Park in Coimbatore, he said District Collectors of Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Salem and Tirunelveli had been instructed to identify suitable land for the project.

The Chief Minister clarified that agricultural lands would not be acquired to set up the IT parks.
