Criminal proceedings against 6 SSLC exam chief superintendents
Bangalore, Apr 2 (UNI) Criminal proceedings will be launched against chief superintendents of six schools in the city for allegedly indulging in malpractices during the SSLC examination and 52 students involved in this will be debarred for six years.
Announcing this to newspersons here today, Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti said police had seized original answer scripts, which were replaced with rewritten scripts by the superintendents. This would seriously affect the meritorious students and the Government would initiate stringent action against those involved, without yielding to any political pressure.
He said three people, considered to be the main accused in the malpractice, were kept under suspension. Replacement of answer scripts were done in 222 cases -- Kannada (41 cases), English second language (43), third Language Hindi (46), Mathematics (47) and science (45 cases) -- involving 52 students. Departmental inquiry would also be held simultaneously against the six chief superintendents, including two head masters and three teachers.
Mr Horatti said an organised racket must be behind this and the department would launch a massive hunt to unearth it.
He said he had also requested the Director General of Police to post additional police force near the examination centres to prevent unauthorised people from entering the area.
