Puducherry, Apr 2 (UNI) There were heated arguments between the Treasury and the Opposition Benches on private entities imparting computer education in Education Department, in the Assembly today during the Question Hour.

Replying to a question from Mr K Lakshminarayanan (PMC), Education Minister M O H F Shajahan ruled out stopping the classes and said the government cannot regularise the services of the computer teachers as they had been deputed by a private firm.

The government also cannot purchase the hardware and will have to depend on private parties for technology upgrdation and expertise.

He said the government had spent Rs.6.29 crore in the last five years to train students belonging to 48 schools here.

Mr Lakshminarayanan charged the private entities benefitted more than the students as they used the computers after class hours.

With several other members joining the issue, Chief Minister N Rangasamy intervened to say the administration would take steps to execute the scheme in a fitting manner.

Following this, the House witnessed noisy scenes with Speaker R Radhakrishnan intervening to say the members could discuss the issue in detail during demands and added thereafter none of the arguments would go into Assembly records. Finally, order was restored in the House.
