CM assures report on death of fishes in Assembly

Shillong, Apr 2 (UNI) Chief Minister D D Lapang today assured the Assembly that the report on the mysterious death of thousands of fishes in the Lukha river by the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) will be placed in the House once completed. The MSPCB is still analysing the water collected from Lukha river to find out the reason of the death of fishes, beside contamination of the river, Mr Lapang said while replying to queries on behalf of Industries Minister Nehlang Lyngdoh.

The chief minister also said no steps had been taken by the government with regard to the recent mysterious death of fishes, besides the contamination of the river.

However, Independent member Manas Chaudhuri alleged that the government was making inordinate delay in examining the causes of the mysterious death.
