AP CM announces Rs 10 crore each to new branches of IIIT.

Hyderabad, Apr 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced Rs ten crore each to the new branches of IIITs being set up at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, Baasra in Adilabad district and Nuzvid in Krishna district.

Dr Reddy was reviewing the status and progress of the new State Universities and 21st Century Gurukulams (Govt sponsored) with Ministers and senior officials.

He asked the finance department to release Rs ten crore each to the new IIIT centres this academic year.

The Chief Minister was briefed about the progress of the work on the new State Universities, Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, Telangana University, Nizamabad, Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajahamundry and Nalgonda University, Nalgonda, an official release said.

The Chief Minister suggested that the new 21st century Government- sponsored Gurukulam in Adilabad district would be established in a place other than Basra, since the new IIIT centre would begin there.

The Gurukulams would be started at Etcherla in Srikakulam district, Idupulapaya, Kadapa, and in Adilabad district. These had been allotted funds already in the budget. Lands had been identified for the Gurukulams except in Adilabad district and the construction work would start soon.

As far as the new Universities were concerned, lands had already been acquired for the Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, and building constructions were under progress.

Lands for the Telangana University also had been identified and Nizamabad and construction will start soon. The new University would have 577 acres. For the Adikavi Nannaya University in Rajahamundry, lands would be finalised soon and acquisition, if necessary, would also start within 15 days.

For the Nalgonda University, lands had already been finalised and 100 acres would be handed over soon by the Collector. Remaining land will be acquired soon.

The Chief Minister said that funds would not be a problem for the completion of the infrastructure for the new Universities and Gurukulams and necessary allocations would be made as and when needed. The Universities were already functioning from temporary buildings and degree and PG courses had already been decided for the academic year, he added.

Finance Minister K Rosaih, Higher Education Minister P Venkateswara Rao, were among others, who attended the meeting.
