Judicial academy to be set up in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 1 (UNI) A judicial academy for training judges, advocates and other functionaries would soon come up in Kashmir.
Outgoing Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Bashir Ahmad Khan laid the foundation stone of the academy to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.67 crore.
The Academy, to be constructed in the High Complex here, would have all the facilities, including two classrooms, a conference hall, a canteen block, the chairman's room, a library, a computer room, an auditorium and few green rooms.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Khan stressed the need for devising an effective and prompt mechanism to dispose off cases of various nature pending in the courts for several years.
He said no system could function smoothly and efficiently until fully equipped with the requisite infrastructure.
Justice Khan said the trained staff would be able to deliver justice promptly provided they were truthful and god fearing.
He said President A P J Abdul Kalam, in his address on the eve of the Republic Day this year, hailed the commendable job rendered by judiciary in Jammu and Kashmir in providing succour to the quake victims. About Rs 15 crore have been awarded through Lok Adalats in the state during the current year, the Chief Justice added.
