JK Cabinet resuffles admin, new districts get DCs

Jammu, Apr 1: Jammu and Kashmir cabinet has effected a major reshuffle in the civil administration, ordering postings of Deputy Commissioners in all the eight newly-created districts, which became functional today.

A cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad last night, ordered posting of Deputy Commissioners in the eight districts, reshuffling 22 officers in the administration.

Main coalition partner of Congress-led state government, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also joined the proceedings after three consecutive boycotts.

Mr Sheikh Rafiq Ahmed, Additional District Development Commissioner, Doda, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Mr B S Jamwal, Nodal Officer, Samba, as Deputy Commissioner, Samba and Mr A D Shanas, Nodal Officer, Ramban, has been appointed Deputy Commissioner, Ramban.

Mr Shahid Inayatullah, Nodal Officer, Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Mr Shourab Bhagat, Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu, as Deputy Commissioner, Doda, Director Information, J and K, Farooq Renzu as Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Mr Sheikh Mushtaq, Nodal Officer, Bandipora, as Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Mr G M Bodha, Special Secretary, Agriculture, as Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and Mr Asfandiyar Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil as Deputy Commissioner, Budgam.

Mr Abdul Hameed, Special Secretary Cooperatives will take charge as Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mr Abdul Latief Deva, Nodal Officer Kulgam as Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Mr R K Bhagat, Joint Agrarian Reforms Commissioner as Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Managing Director, State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), Sanjeev Verma as Deputy Commissioner, Reasi.

Mr Ravi K Thusoo, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, has been appointed Secretary Labour and Employment while Mr G N Sofi, Nodal Officer, Shopian, will take over as Managing Director, SRTC.

Mr A M Khandey, Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, was transferred and posted as Managing Director Handicrafts, (S&E) Corporation, MrCharanjit Singh, Nodal Officer, Reasi, will be the Additional DistrictDevelopment Commissioner, Jammu.

Mr Parvez Malik, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri was transferred and posted as Director Geology and Mining, Mr Shafat Noor, Nodal Officer, Ganderbal, will assume charge as Additional Secretary Power.

Dr Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner, Doda, was transferred and posted as Secretary to Chief Minister while Mr Zaffar Ahmad, Special Secretary to Chief Minister was ordered to hold additional charge of the Director Information, J and K.

However, Mr Raja Aijaz Ali, IGP, who was awaiting orders of adjustment, was the only police officer posted by the Cabinet, sources said.

He was made IGP Traffic in place of Mr Rashid Khan, who had retired on Friday.
