Horticulture mission to strengthen in Nagaland

Kohima, Apr 1 (UNI) The Nagaland Horticulture department has projected Rs 36 crores for the implementation of the various Horticulture Technology Mission (HTM) schemes during 2007-2008.

The Annual Administrative Report for the department, recently tabled in the Assembly stated the amount had yet to be approved by the Centre at the Central Level Steering Committee meeting in April.

The report stated the projected amount would be utilised for carrying out various area expansion activities of the focus crops and integrated developmental activities.

As per the Centre's 11th Five Year Plan, the Technology Mission- North East would concentrate on enhancing and strengthening the existing plantation areas, the report said.

It would also focus on implementing and imparting irrigation technologies, nursery management, protected cultivation, intensified cultivation and quality control.
