Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi celebrated with religious fervour in Jammu

Jammu, Apr 1 (UNI) Thousands of Muslim devotees celebrated Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Prophet Mohammad, with religious fervour and gaiety here today.

In a function held at Jamia Masjid, Talab Khatikan organised by Anjuman-e-Islah-ul-Muslimeen, students from different Islamic schools recited versus from the Holy Quran, competed in Qirat Competition-Naat and speeches and finally threw light on the life and teachings of the Prophet Mohammad.

The three-session function was presided over by Maulana Sadar-ul-Hassan Qasmi Imam Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan, Qazi Mohammad Usman Sahib Naib Mohtamim Darul-Uloom Deoband and Maulana Shaheen Jamali Chautervedi Sheikh-ul-Hadees Dar-ul-Uloom Imdad-ul-Islam Meerut.

The function culminated into a prayer for humanity and everlasting peace for the world.

Similar function was held at Jamia Masjid, Lakhdata Bazzar, where Muslims offered prayers throughout the night.
