Crisis in Cong; APYC flays anti-party activities

Itanagar, Apr 1: The Congress government in Arunachal Pradesh has run into rough weather following a crisis among the ministers and MLAs over the change of the leadership.

The Majority of the Congress ministers and MLAs were camping in the National Capital in order to persuade the party's high command to give the green light for a change in the leadership, party sources said.

However, details are awaited, the sources added.

The Congress has 34 MLAs in the 60-member assembly followed by BJP (9), two each of NCP and Arunachal Congress (AC), besides 13 Independent.

Meanwhile, taking great exception to the anti-party activities of some Congress ministers and MLAs presently hobnobbing with the BJP and NCP legislators to ''destabilise'' the government in the state, Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress(APYC) has demanded the ouster of all the MLAs going against the party.

A meeting under the chairmanship of its president Likha Saaya took place yesterday to take stock of the prevailing political situation in the state before adopting the above resolution unanimously, an APYC communique said.
