Shobha Yatra, all religion meet marks Mahavir Jayanti in Delhi
New Delhi, Mar 31 (UNI) A huge shobha yatra and an all religion meet marked the celebrations of Mahavir Jayanti, the birthday of Lord Mahavira, in the capital today.
On the occasion, a huge 'Shobha yatra' (procession) was carried out this morning at Model basti in Old Delhi by the Digambar Jain temple authorities.
A host of political personalities participated in the event which included former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler (who was the chief guest), former Union ministers Satyanarayan Jatiya and Vijay Goel. The procession started from model basti and culminated at the parade grounds while passing through Bara Hindu Rao, Sadar Bazar, Khari Baoli and Dariba Kalan.
An all religion meet was held at the parade grounds this afternoon where Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was the chief guest and Deputy speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly Shoaib Iqbal was a special invitee. Among others present at the meet were MLA Prahlad Singh Sahni, Councillors Brij Mohan Sharma and Ms Talat Sultana.
