Prisoners go on fast following death of an undertrial

Cuddalore, Mar 31(UNI) As many as 100 prisoners in Cuddalore central jail observed a fast following the death of an undertrial prisoner today.

K Chandrababu (30) of Elayanalloor near Thiruvangadu, who was arrested in an illicit distillation case complained of sickness last night and was admitted to the Cuddalore General Hsospital this morning. However, he died sometime later in the hospital.

Following this, the prisoners began the fast shouting slogans against the authorities.

However, the jail superintendent Subramanian told UNI that the prisoners only mourned the death of Chandrababu by not taking any food.
