Condemnations pour in over killing of two boys

Imphal, Mar 30 (UNI) A large numbers of organisations have condemned the killing of two ten-year-old students at Senapati district.

The Kuki Students' Organisation, United Committee Manipur, Advance Women Society, Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup, Kanglei Chanura Chaokhat Lamching Lup (Hiyanglam), All India Students' Federation (Manipur State Council) and All Manipur Anti-Drug Association condemned the killing of Hrinii Hubert and Muheni Martin who were kidnapped for ransom on December 14 last.

Meanwhile, life was affected today at Ukhrul district due to a dawn to dusk bandh called from 7 am to 7 pm.

Officials said Rs one lakh ex-gratia would be given to the family members of the two deceased persons.

It may be noted that after the boys, Hriini Hubert and Mohini Martin of Don Bosco, Maram, were found missing on December 14, the skeletal remains of the two boys were found on March 27 in the Viewland Colony, Senapati district police said.

Silent prayers were organised by women's bodies and students organisations of the state at the district. The angry villagers also burnt down two houses reportedly of two persons involved in the crime. People wore black badges and staged sit in protest to protest the killings of the two innocent boys.

The Core Committee has been formed to inquire into the kidnapping.

A campaign had been launched in Manipur, especially in Senapati district, to trace the two boys.

Police said the skeletal remains were discovered last evening when some children were playing at Viewland Colony.

Police said investigation was on to nab the criminals.
