Wendell Rodricks presents an imperial collection at LFW
Mumbai, Mar 30 (UNI) From Isadora Duncan to witchcraft and now to Empress Theodora - Wendell Rodericks' inspirations are as unconventional as his designs.
Having researched the life of Empress Theodora carefully, Wendell's creations for Autumn/Winter 2007-08 at the LFW went through the full gamut of the lady's life from Mistress, Empress and Saint - each presented in a unique colour story and styling details.
Virginal whites in the first section were replete with linen tunics, with white cotton square sleeve tunic, some coarse Byzantine weave silk long tie-up jackets, an amazing white linen tunic dress with sleeves and the stunning satin silk mini with wave pleat and georgette blouse with pearls.
In the Saint segment which had beige, caramel, faded gold and cream crepe, coarse silk, organza and georgette which was turned into long line tunics with reverse satin in cruciform seams, tunics, shifts, dresses in the famed Wendell format.
Bringing the exotic glamour of a Mistress on to the ramp, Wendell had blood red, purple, aubergine, for minis, semi sheer crepe and chiffon dress with taffeta bolero and large square collar, a rouched top in crepe silk and a purple satin silk deep back tie up mini.
To celebrate the rise of the Empress, it was black all the way with flashes of turquoise blue satin for long slinky gowns, backless pleated long line tops, some unusual spool thread extensions on a black Lycra and georgette long line top. The show stopper was a solitary black satin silk sari with a floating ribbon pallav.
