Two CPI(M) activists shot dead at Belpahari in Bengal
Midnapore, Mar 30 (UNI) At least two CPI (M) members were killed and three abducted today by the Maoist activists at Keundishol village under Belpahari police station of the district.
Police here said both the deceased were the CPI (M) Local Committee and Simulpal Gram Panchayat members.
The incident occurred when the two along with some other party members were returning home after a Panchayat budget meeting.
An armed gang of 25-30 Maoists opened fire, killing two on the spot. They then abducted three others.
No one had been arrested in this connection so far, the police added.
The Maoists were chanting slogans denouncing the Left Front government's industrialisation process and moved towards the bordering state of Jharkhand.
