Two arrested for selling rice meant for mid-day meal on blackmarket

New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) Police today arrested two people from Narela area of North-West Delhi for allegedly 'pilfering' rice meant for the government's 'Mid-Day Meal' scheme and selling them in the blackmarket.

Nearly 180 quintals of rice in 50-kg bags was seized from the possession of Naveen Kumar (29) on March 24 while being unloaded at his Narela godown, police said.

His interrogation led to the arrest of Raj Kumar who would buy the rice from the NGOs, who carried out the 'mid-day meal' scheme on government expense.

Raids were on to arrest those involved in the NGOs, the police added.
