Texas Uty to host World Meet on Fibre

Mumbai, Mar 30 (UNI) The Institute of Environmental and Human Health (TIEHH) at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and Kumaraguru College of Technology in Coimbatore will co-host the International Conference to held in June 18-20 in Coimbatore on Advances in Textiles, Machinery, Nonwoven and Technical Textiles-(ATNT) 2007.

Organisers are accepting abstracts from experts who wish to speak at the event, said a company release here today.

This international meet showcases collaboration in the textile world between India and the United States, said Seshadri Ramkumar, organising secretary and an assistant professor at TIEHH.

This conference has received worldwide support with industry and academic leaders from many countries such as the United Kingdom, USA, Germany, Australia and Japan, just to name a few, that are part of the international technical committee, he added.

Topics for prospective speakers include advances in spinning, weaving and knitting, nonwoven processes and applications, medical and technical textiles, defense textiles, decontamination and protection technology, advances in natural and synthetic polymers, composites processing and applications, nanotechnology and nanomaterials, smart and wearable electronic textiles, development and research in coloration and finishing, garment processing and apparel fashion trends, fiber and textile economics and marketing, textile trade and globalization in textile and fiber industry.

Experts have predicted that the world population growth will soon lead to an explosion of textile material usage in a wide range of applications. This environment makes the exchange of information crucial between members of the global textile arena, he said.

The organising committee includes N Mahalingam, chairman at Kumaraguru College of Technology, K Arumugam, professor and correspondent at Kumaraguru College of Technology, and Ronald Kendall, director of TIEHH at Texas Tech.

The conference is sponsored by INDA (Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry), AATCC-American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, Bayer CropScience, Certified FiberMax Cotton, Delta and Pine Land Company and the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance.
