New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) The Federation of Delhi Trade Associations (FDTA) today moved the Supreme Court seeking stay against the ongoing sealing of commercial premises operating from residential areas in Delhi which are not protected by the new Master Plan Delhi (MPD) 2021.

The Federation in its application has also sought directions from the court to the Centre, Delhi government and MCD to bring out a rehabilitation scheme for such traders before sealing their shops and relocate them to alternative sites.

The FDTA in another application has also sought directions from the apex court for de-sealing of the premises sealed earlier under the court orders.

An apex court bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat had directed MCD to resume sealing of commercial premises not covered under MPD 2021 from March 28 but the sealing operations will remain suspended from April 4 to April 7 in view of MCD elections.

The apex court will examine the validity of new MPD2021 on April 10,11 and 12.

Meanwhile Parveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has blamed DDA and MCD for keeping the Delhi traders in the dark for four decades by creating an impression that their shops were fully legal by issuing licences, giving water and electricity connections and collecting all other taxes.

The two applications are likely to come up for hearing next week.
